George Floyd Four years after he was killed by Minneapolis police, his loved ones remembered him as “someone who would help everybody.”
Floyd was killed on May 25, 2020, when Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes. The horrifying video footage of his death at the age of 46 was seen around the world.
“I just want the world to know that my brother was somebody,” his sister Bridget Floyd told People. “He was not just any man. He just wasn’t black. But he was someone… he is someone who will help everyone. “
Paying tribute to Floyd’s memory, his sister said she “really wants[s] To do the works that God wants to see.”
“Some saw it as a great injustice done to man. To other people, they saw it as the greatest injustice and murder of a black man in broad daylight in a public setting. To me, he was a dear friend of mine,” Floyd’s friend Tiffany Cofield told People.
After Floyd’s murder, his sister said he was “very broken” and Caufield said he was “severely traumatized.”
“If the police pull me over, it takes me an hour to calm down,” Cofield, 39, said.
“I know some people are asking, ‘Oh, why are we still talking about George Floyd?’ said Caufield, who planned to mark the heartbreaking anniversary by listening to her late friend’s music and visiting his grave. “It’s because we can never forget. Unfortunately, this was a story that was set up in the most horrifying way. “
In 2021, Chauvin was convicted of murder and manslaughter for Floyd’s murder. He is serving more than two decades in prison.
Another prisoner was wounded at the end of last year A chauvinist almost two dozen times.
