Tennessean Names Finalist for 2024 Pulitzer Prize in News Photography

The 108th Pulitzer Prize class announced today that The Tennessean, a publication of the USA TODAY Network, has been named. 2024 Pulitzer Finalist News photography category.

The Pulitzer Prize, administered by Columbia University, is the nation’s most prestigious journalism award.

This is the fourth time The Tennessean has been a Pulitzer finalist, most recently in 2011 for coverage of Nashville’s historic flooding. The 117-year-old news organization, first published in Nashville on May 7, 1907, has won three Pulitzers, most recently for investigative reporting in 1986.

“This Pulitzer Finalist recognition reinforces the essential importance of photojournalism in our daily lives,” said Christine Roberts, chief content officer at Gannett. “Our independent reporting has a huge impact on communities across the country and we are honored to tell their stories.

This award recognizes the five Pulitzer Prize winners and ten finalists awarded to Gannett journalists over the past eight years. Gannett was awarded 97 Pulitzer Prizes as a whole.
