Some Manhattan residents asked Con Edison to turn off the electricity

West Side, Manhattan (WABC) — Con Edison is asking customers on the West Side of Manhattan to turn off their electricity.

The affected areas are from 58th Street to 42nd Street between 10th Avenue and the Hudson River.

The utility is asking customers to temporarily stop using appliances such as dishwashers, dryers and microwave ovens. They also ask to limit the unnecessary use of air conditioning.

The request is on site while they are repairing the equipment.

Power cuts are also in effect in the Theater District, Midtown and Times Square.
