Forecast for Sunday, May 5, 2024:

Valley rain and mountain snow are expected throughout the day today. A strong cold front that will move in will bring thunderstorms and heavy rain is possible. Due to the possibility of heavy rain, we have decided to declare the first day of weather. Almost along this front, snow will be very heavy in the northern mountains. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect now through Tuesday afternoon for 8-16″ of snow in the northern mountains. The Wasatch Front could see about 0.5-1.0″ of rain and some places more. Snow levels could drop to 5,500-6,000 feet Sunday night, with significant snow above 7,000 feet. Monday morning and Tuesday morning will still be wet and the valleys may see a few flurries mixed in both days.

Salt Lake City and surrounding area:

  • Sunday: Expect showers and thunderstorms. Windy and cold. Highs in the 50s, but afternoon temperatures will be in the 40s due to a cold front.
  • Sunday Night: More humid weather. Lows in the 30s.
  • Monday: Rain mixing with snow to valley floors. No accumulation. Highs in the low 50s.

George and surroundings:

  • Sunday: Mostly cloudy and windy. Highs in the mid-60s.
  • Sunday Night: Clouds and a low in the 40s.
  • Monday: Partly cloudy and windy. The maximum temperature is about 73 degrees.
