News: Clarion County coroner indicts fatal I-80 crash victim

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – The Clarion County Coroner has identified the man killed in a crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 80 in Shippenville.

The accident happened Tuesday, April 9, at approximately 8:24 p.m., near mile marker 59 in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

Interstate 80 East is closed between Exit 53 (Knox) ​​and PA 66 North, Exit 60 (Shippenville).

According to a spokesman for the Clarion-based state police, there were two crashes that caused the closure and one fatality.

Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker said the 53-year-old Nikolai PonchkoDied of injuries sustained in one of the accidents in Toronto, Canada.

Ponchko’s cause of death was blunt force trauma, Shingledecker told exploreClarion.com.

Multiple injuries were reported in the crash, according to PennDOT.

I-80 reopened at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday, April 10.
