Kyle Lynn Stock, 73, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, died June 1, 2024, at home. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Baxter Congregational Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Baxter Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery, Baxter.
Kyle was the eldest son of Eugene Myron and Zeta Rae (Butler) Stock and was born on December 22, 1950. He attended community schools in Marshalltown as a child before his family moved north to Kilduff in 1963. He graduated from Lynnville in 1969. -Soul School, where he loved to play football and basketball. In 1972, he married Cynthia Mars and they had 3 sons. Ryan (1975), Jason (1978) and Eric (1980). He and Cindy later divorced.
In the early years after graduation, he worked at Fred Schmidt Lumberyard. He was then a hired hand for Tom and Wayne Sharp. Then he worked at March Materials, his father-in-law. Not knowing exactly what sparked his interest in trucks, he began driving for Lynnville Transport. In 1983 he bought his own truck and became an owner operator. In 2002, he brought his son Ryan into the business. Kyle also lived on the family farm north of Kilduff.
He was an active member of the ATHS and the American Trucking Historical Society. Kyle enjoyed attending truck shows over the years. His CB handle was “Cowboy” and that’s what most of his trucker friends called him. When her grandson came and learned to speak, it was the only name she ever called him. Kyle hit him with that. He also loved motorcycles. Over the years he enjoyed many bicycle trips with friends. He always looked forward to these trips.
Kyle leaves behind his sons and their families; Ryan (Alisha) Stock and their children Haley (Kenny), Kenley, Braxton, Emmaline and Tyler; Jason Stock and daughter Georgia; Eric Stock and children Ashley, Nathaniel (Kenzie “Bob”), Chance and Aidan; brothers Kelly Stock and family of California and Kent Stock of Kellogg; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father in 1985, mother in 2020, and brother Kirk in 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
