Holders Italy were eliminated from Euro 2024 after a 2-0 defeat by Switzerland in the last 16.
Italy defeated England 2021 Men’s Euro 2021 final final on penalties.
But goals from Remo Froiler and Ruben Vargas gave the Swiss a comfortable victory on Saturday.
This was the first victory Switzerland than their southern neighbor for 31 years.
Luciano Spalletti’s side’s exit from the tournament means that the Swiss national team will advance to the quarter-finals of the European Championship for only the second time in their history.
They either England or Slovakia in Dusseldorf on July 6.
The first goal came from the boot of Froiler in the 37th minute.
By the time Italy responded in the second, the Swiss defense was able to handle it effectively.

The second half had barely started when Vargas scored a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
