An El Al plane that took off from Warsaw on Sunday made an emergency landing at Antalya Airport in Turkey due to a medical incident, Israeli media reported on Sunday.
Israeli media reports that passengers were told to expect a delay of several hours in Turkey without permission to disembark. Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, all direct flights from Israel to Turkey have been canceled.
The plane also needed refueling, and an airport employee refused to refuel the plane, delaying the plane’s takeoff, Israeli media reported.
Maariv It quoted El Al’s response to the incident as saying: “El Al flight LY5102 from Warsaw to Tel Aviv landed at Antalya Airport following a medical incident with one of its passengers. After consulting the doctor who treated the passenger on the plane. , it was decided that it should be landed immediately so that the passenger could be taken to the hospital as soon as possible.”
Delays are related to Turkish permits
KAN reported that the plane had initially received permission to refuel at Antalya airport, but Turkish political parties delayed the decision on the grounds that permission was needed to refuel.
