Broadway classic returns: The Wiz makes long-awaited return after nearly 50-year hiatus

BROADWAY, N.Y. — A Broadway classic made its magical return to New York City Wednesday night.

“The Wiz” returns to the Broadway stage after a nearly 50-year hiatus.

The opening night of the revamped classic included some big names on stage and backstage.

Stephanie Mills, who played Dorothy in the original Broadway show, was part of the night’s festivities.

Several A-listers were part of the red carpet to support the cast, including ABC’s Tamron Hall and Sunny Hostin of “The View.”
